Opportunities for Well-Deserved Recognition

You have seen a myriad of lists of the "best" lawyers - but how often are in-house counsel on those lists?  And don't we belong there?

As part of WMACCA's efforts to increase the visibility of the in-house bar, we are amassing a database of awards/honors that will publicize to our members.  We urge you to follow up on these opportunities to get recognition for individual lawyers or your entire department.  If you need guidance on how to apply for such awards, please contact Ilene Reid by clicking here

Coming up in the next several weeks:

The Bar Association of the District of Columbia Constance L. Belfior Eleventh Annual Quality of Life Award - Nominations due May 2.
Achieving quality of life, both professional and personal, is the goal of every lawyer. As it tends to be an elusive goal, employers who provide quality of life for their lawyers should be recognized and nominated for this annual award.  Lawyers who have achieved quality of life are urged to nominate their employers for the Award.  Award winners have been exceptionally pleased with the Award’s effect on morale, recruitment, retention and client satisfaction.  The winner will be honored during a special ceremony at the BADC’s Annual Luncheon on June 17, 2008 at the Mayflower Hotel, in the BADC e-newsletter, at the BADC Annual Banquet in December, and on the BADC website.  Previous honorees have included the legal departments of The Mitre Corporation and Fannie Mae.  a company is eligible to receive the award for a DC/VA/MD office.  That office does not have to be the headquarters of the company, but it does have to have lawyers in it.  For more information on the award, please click here.  For an application, please click here

Legal Times - Leading Lawyers in Government Affairs - Nominations due May 27.
