President's Message
The NJCCA’s annual Golf Outing has just been completed and I am happy to report that it was a monumental success. Seventeen groups of golfers hit the links on the beautiful Bay Course at the Stockton Seaview Resort on a day when temperatures exceeded 100 degrees Farenheit, but the high temperatures did nothing to deter the good cheer and fun that was had by all. We had a lively cocktail reception following the outing that was well attended by the golfers and the many other members and sponsors who just came down to network and have a good time at the reception. The Stockton Seaview Resort is a beautiful venue and the hospitality provided to our group was extraordinary. I want to especially thank our Executive Director, Gail Girard, and Golf Outing Co-Chairs Barbara Sellinger and Ron Prague for their tireless efforts to make the event a success. Stay posted for information about next year’s outing, which will be held at a venue in north/central New Jersey…details to follow shortly!
I would like to mention several upcoming events for you to keep in mind.
First, don’t forget that we have extended the deadline for submissions to NJCCA’s Inaugural Legal Fiction Writing Competition to September 25, 2012. We have received several exciting submissions already but we want more! We’re looking for short works of fiction (no more than 5,000 words in length) but the sky’s the limit when it comes to your creativity. Please check out the Competition’s Rules and Regulations for more detail. The winning submission(s) will receive recognition at our annual dinner as spelled out in the rules and regulations. Above all else, we want this competition to be fun! It’s a great way to showcase your writing talent, so don’t be shy…Please make your submission before September 25!
Second, please see the Upcoming Events tab for the date, time, and location of the NJCCA’s annual Build-a-Backpack event. Each August, a group of volunteers gathers to fill backpacks with school supplies for elementary school children in economically disadvantaged districts. These backpacks bring great joy to the children who receive them. We encourage you to join us at this event. It’s always a lot of fun as we stuff the backpacks while socializing with the other volunteers.
Third, please mark your calendar for NJCCA’s 10th Annual All-Day CLE Conference on Friday, September 21! It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed since we began holding this premier event. Each year, the All-Day CLE Conference has grown bigger and better and this year will continue that tradition. As always, we will provide more than 25 program options on multiple tracks throughout the day on a wide variety of relevant and pertinent issues. The quality of the CLE has always been and will continue to be the absolute best that you will find anywhere. NJCCA is the only association dedicated exclusively to providing high quality CLE to the New Jersey in-house legal community and it remains our mission to provide maximum value to our members. Following the CLE programs, we will continue our tradition of holding a cocktail reception for our members and sponsors. This event is always highly rated and we look forward to seeing you there!
Finally, if you are planning to attend the ACC’s annual convention in Orlando, please let me know. We are working with a sister chapter on a joint reception for our respective attendees. Details will follow.
