NJCCA President's Message

by Valerie Camara

To the Membership,

As this is the last letter that I will write as your president, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the executive committee, board, committee leaders and Gail Girard for their support over the past two years.

As an organization, we have had a productive couple of years, even with challenging economic times.  Mandatory CLE for New Jersey attorneys became a reality and made NJCCA's role as a CLE provider for the membership even more important.  Given the importance of CLE to our membership, NJCCA became an approved CLE provider for New Jersey.  We currently, are approved providers of CLE for New York and New Jersey.  We have had a record attendance at our All Day CLE Conference in September, as well as at a number of our other CLE programs.  Additionally, we have several very active committees that hosted a number of programs and networking events for their constituencies.  Our newsletter continues to be a successful tool for communicating with our members, providing substantive articles of interest to in-house counsel, highlighting upcoming events, show casing the work our very own cartoonist, Joe Aronds, with Overruled!, and the accomplishments of the chapter.  We continue to look for ways to add more content from our board, committees, sponsors and members!

While I'm stepping down as president to make way for your next president, Evan Turtz, Deputy General Counsel-Labor & Employment & Human Resources Law for Ingersoll-Rand Company, I think that Evan will have a great board of directors and committee leaders that will continue to build the chapter in ways that will better serve the membership.  I look forward to continuing to work with Evan, the executive committee and board in my role as immediate past president.

This year, we had a couple of board members that were instrumental in building the chapter over the years and have opted to step down this year.  I would like to thank them for their service to the organization.  A special thanks to Lucinda Long and Ilene Karpf for their support to the board over the years!  I would also like to thank Jason Meyer for his work in building our Ethics, Compliance & Governance committee and to wish him well in his new position.

We hope to see you all at the Annual Dinner to welcome in your new president and board of directors and enjoy the festivities.

Many thanks for giving me the opportunity to serve as your president!

Warm Regards,
Val
