Question of the Month
I am General Counsel of a U.S.-based multinational company that is expanding its manufacturing operations in China. While we have had some success dealing with outside counsel in China to help with our legal issues there, I am interested in finding out whether hiring a local Chinese national to work “in-house” would be more effective for the day-to-day matters. Does ACC have any resources to help me?
Answer: To help understand how “in-house” counsel are viewed in China, ACC offers the following resources and suggests additional general resources on China and its legal system:

• The Challenges of Recruiting and Retaining In-house Lawyers in China
• Going Global: The Evolving Role of the In-house Lawyer Outside the United States
