“What Have You Done for Me Lately?” Recent Developments in Law Department Reporting to Management"
Like other business units, law departments must report to management regarding the value that they provide to their companies. However, most law departments face significant reporting challenges: collecting data from their many business units and outside counsel regarding the company’s legal activities and exposure, keeping this information current, and using this information to generate effective reports -- reports that give management/the board a realistic view into the company’s legal landscape.
The purpose of this session is discuss the latest reports that law departments are generating to inform management that they have been effective stewards of their companies’ legal work. We will also discuss the additional types of metrics that participants would like to track in the future, and how recent developments in technology provide general counsel previously unavailable reports and benchmarks to assess their law departments’ performance.

This course explores biases in the legal profession, including gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, and age. What can and should you do to eliminate it? Areas covered include background on bias in the legal profession, preventing bias in the legal profession, preventing bias by promoting diversity in the legal profession, and best practices and model legal departments.
