June Brown Bag Program - The "New" SEC - What Does It Mean To You?
June 4, 2009
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Overview
After being beaten down by market turmoil and stinging public criticism over the handling of the Madoff matter, the SEC is fighting back with the support of the Obama administration, new priorities, a new Chairperson, a new Head of Enforcement, and a bigger budget. SEC Chairperson Mary Shapiro recently announced that these new resources will "help strengthen and reinvigorate the SEC and rededicate our commitment to the protection of investors." Join us for a brown bag luncheon in which Sean T. Prosser, a partner in the San Diego office of Morrison & Foerster LLP and former SEC enforcement attorney, and Kimberly S. Greer, Of Counsel at Morrison, will discuss what, if anything, actually has changed at the SEC, and what all this means to public companies, their officers and directors, and their lawyers.
