Title |
BROWN BAG PROGRAM: Conducting Internal Investigations |
|
Summary |
Taking the first steps into an internal investigation raises many important questions that need to be answered early on in the process. On April 6th our panel will discuss the following:
- Who should conduct the investigation? The entire board? A committee of the board? Which committee?
- Can regular outside counsel advise the investigatory body? When is independent counsel necessary?
- When is it necessary to hire an independent consultant? What value can a third-party consultant bring to the investigation?
- When to create a report on the investigation, if at all.
- How and when to deal with your auditors regarding the investigation.
