Question of the Month
In response to rising fuel costs and heightened consumer awareness of
global warming, my company (a global manufacturer) has engaged a PR
firm to redesign our product advertisements. The objective is to gain
a competitive edge by emphasizing modifications designed to make our
products “greener.” As in-house counsel, I want to be certain my
company is aware of limitations to green marketing claims.
Does ACC have any resources that can assist me, as I work with our
marketing department, and our advertising firm to make sure my company
does not overpromise or violate any green marketing regulations?
Answer: ACC has several resources designed to assist in-house counsel in providing advice on environmental claims. These include:
Webcasts
• A New Type of Environmental Threat: Could Marketing Your Company as “Green” Put It at Risk?
• The Obama Administration and the Environment - What to Expect
ACC Docket
• Is Green the New Black? (September 2007)
Also, be sure to visit Green-House Counsel, an online resource featuring weekly tips and facts to help your company adopt environmentally friendly policies.
