Welcome to ACC Financial Services 2017-2018!
An Introduction and Welcome from Your New Chair of the Financial Services Committee

Happy Holidays to members of the Financial Services Committee (FSC)!

As the 2017-2018 Chair of the Financial Services Committee, this is the first opportunity I have had to welcome you as a member of the committee. I am excited to serve as the Chair this year, and hope I am able to meet many of you during the upcoming months either via phone, email or in-person. In this newsletter, you will find an introduction to our new FSC leadership team.

This year’s FSC leadership team has already been very busy planning events, webinars, and newsletters for the upcoming year so that you can participate early in the year and take advantage of all that the ACC and FSC have to offer. It is our goal to inspire you to get involved, discover the FSC’s value to your practice, partake in the committee’s offerings, including quick legal hits, and of course, to meet your colleagues at any of our upcoming informal and formal networking events. We want to make sure that you are timely informed of the programs via our webpage, emails and the committee threads, but if you are ever unsure, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to me or any of the committee leaders.

Legal Quick Hits for FSC Members: Free, Relevant, and Monthly (on a Wednesday)

Our Legal Quick Hit (LQH) teleconferences are held monthly (often the fourth Wednesday of each month) at 3:00 pm ET / 12:00 PT. You can find information about them on our FSC webpage, via the ACC email blasts and on our ACC FSC message board threads.

Our FSC leadership team strives for these Legal Quick Hits to cover a variety of topics of interest to our members, but we are always looking for your thoughts on programs, topics and/or interesting speakers. Contact me at dkhny@yahoo.com with your suggestions.

ACC Mid-Year Meeting in Denver and ACC Annual Meeting, Austin

We are also working on planning programs for the ACC Mid-Year meeting to be held April 22-24 in Denver and our Annual meeting to be held October 21-24 in Austin. These events are in addition to our regular spring programming lineup, soon to be announced.

Know Someone Who Might Like to Join? Let Us Know!

Since our committee has something to offer everyone, we encourage you to help us increase our membership, both in number and in participation. If you know an ACC member whose practice centers around financial services and/or consumer financial services, please help spread the word about our committee.

Our “Value Add” to Your Practice

I tell members that being a part of the FSC is like so many things in life – while you don’t have to “give” much to be a member, the more you put in, the more value you will get out. The “value” is different for each member – whether access to forms or publications, programming or simply being able to connect with amazing colleagues.

Thank you for your interest and support of ACC and the FSC. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for program ideas, how to get more involved or just to introduce yourself. My direct contact information is below.

Cheers to a fantastic New Year!

Regards,

Debbie Hoffman

The TCPA is a frequently litigated claim favored by single and class action plaintiffs. Companies susceptible to this claim must understand the TCPA’s complex statutory and regulatory structure. This webcast will provide some general outlines of the main TCPA claims as well as recent developments regarding how to prevent and defend such claims, both on an individual and class basis. Cases from the financial services industry will be highlighted for in-house counsel in the practice area.
