Message from the Chair

Thank you for visiting the Compliance & Ethics webpage!

As a compliance and ethics professional, you play a critical role in helping to detect and prevent misconduct in your organization.  The Compliance &Ethics Committee (“CEC”) is committed to providing you with opportunities that will help you to grow and become more effective in fulfilling this function.  For example:

· With more the 6,500 members, the CEC offers you the ability to connect with other compliance professionals to benchmark your program or discuss best practices – whether online, over the phone, or in person at the ACC Annual Meeting.

· In conjunction with our sponsor, Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice, LLC, the CEC presents a Legal Quick Hit (“LQH”) during each of its monthly business meetings. Each LQH is about 20-45 minutes in length and addresses a hot topic impacting our organizations, thereby enabling you to stay up-to-date and informed with a minimal amount of time or effort.

· You may gain recognition in the compliance and ethics community through speaking opportunities, or by publishing articles in the ACC Docket

If you not already a member of the CEC, please click here and then select “JOIN NOW” to be invited to our monthly meetings and receive other notifications regarding matters that are of importance to you.

If you have any questions or suggestions as to how the CEC can better serve your needs, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Kate Arthur

Teleconference, May 31 at 2:00 PM EST

“Important Steps to Prepare for the Global WannaCry Ransomware Attack”

In light of the “WannaCry” ransomware attack that compromised over 70,000 organizations in nearly 100 countries on May 12, 2017, we will be hosting a presentation and discussion on its impact on the role of in-house counsel and how to best respond.  The attack encrypted people’s computer files – making them inaccessible – and demanded a ransom of about $300 worth of Bitcoin to release them.  Your business may have been victim to the latest ransomware attack, or it may be caught up in the next wave. Join us to learn how you can manage the attack and can prepare to beat the next one.

Speaker: Allen T. O’Rourke, Of Counsel, Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP
