Message from the Chair

Dear ITPEC members (and potential members),

We are excited about this year and the possibilities we have in this committee to truly work together to build partnerships and resources. Our focus this year is threefold and they all work together well.

Our three areas are:

  • Partnerships (with other committees, with chapters, with outside resources, with new initiatives)
  • Resources (what do you need to help in your efforts? what can you share to help with others' efforts)
  • Engaging members (to serve you, to provide you resources, to build partnership)
  • With Partnerships, we are talking about partnering with other committees, with chapters, with outside resources, and with new initiatives such as an exciting one we are kicking off this year on Public/Private Partnerships. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact us. If you work within your chapter and would like to work on a programming idea, please let us know. Any ideas you have are absolutely welcome.

On Resources, we all need that extra bit of help now and then, right? We would love to help build a library of resources that we all benefit from. This could be contract clauses, checklists, process steps, forms - anything that helps each other. Also, we can write - ACC Docket articles, eDocket articles, short blog entries - anything. And you don't have to go at it alone. We will support you and ensure that you are a success at this endeavor.

And Engaging Members. We have over 6,000 members! You joined for a reason - some to speak (if you want to speak on a legal quick hit or an annual program panel, please let us know), some to write (see above - you can do this!), some to learn (if there is a topic you need to learn about, let us know, we can probably work something out to get you what you need), and some just to watch (lots of chances to watch).

We are in the hottest growing legal field there is right now. Together we are powerful!

Thank you for letting me serve as your chair this year. I look forward to working with each of you. Please flood my email box with 6,000 emails!

    Best regards,

    K

    Get to know Sarah!

Our members are amazing people. Sarah has been an active member of the ITPEC Committee for several years.  She is Senior Legal Counsel at Wunderman, a digital agency with 175 offices in 60 countries. Here is a snapshot of a “day in the life” of one of our dynamic members.

5:30 a.m - Get up and ready for the day, work out a few days a week.

7:00 a.m - Review voicemail and urgent emails from after business hours. Go over agenda for day. Start working on any priorities.

8:00 a.m - Negotiations with vendors and clients on contracts. Answer emails, review a few documents for afternoon meetings. Redline a Business Associate Agreement and Security Exhibit and send to my Information Security Officer. Weekly meeting with Privacy Officer to review current compliance processes, potential issues and new products.

12:00 p.m - Take dogs for 20 minute walk. Have lunch and review a legal hold request I received today.  Set up meeting with internal business and outside counsel on hold.

1:00 p.m - Attend negotiations on client contracts. Attend weekly executive meeting for the Council on Security and Information Practices.

4:00 p.m - Review employment contract redlines from new executive. Meet with one of my business lines to review how annual audits from clients relating to Medicare are going.

5:30 p.m - Wrap up the work day.

6:00 p.m - Take virtual guitar lesson—trying to learn to play guitar. And trying to learn to sing and play together…Been taking lessons for almost two years now.

7:00 p.m – Dinner with my husband, chores and try to turn off devices—or at least trying not check device more than once at night.

8:30 p.m – More guitar practice! Read some fiction before bed.

    11:00 p.m – Goodnight.
