Message from the Chair

Greetings fellow SLD’ers!

As we move into the Northern Hemisphere’s summer and everyone goes on vacation, it becomes more important than ever to get things out the door as quickly as possible without sacrificing the quality for which SLD’ers are known. Be sure to take advantage of ACC’s many resources: Legal Quick Hits; webcasts; presentations on areas of law; sample forms; Top 10 lists; eGroups; the Contracts, Compliance, Crisis Management and Survey portals; and the member-to-member service where you can talk to a fellow ACC member about a specific issue you need help with (this one has been of great help to me). Also, don’t forget to take advantage of the FREE 30 minutes of courtesy advice each year offered by the law firm members of our sponsor, Meritas. We’ve had a lot of great feedback from our members about how useful, easy, and friendly it is to talk to a Meritas attorney. Meritas members are located throughout the world. Contact Kim Heinrich to set up your appointment (+1-612-604-0083).

If you’re developing a contract management system, thinking about adopting e-signatures, or want to make sure you’re in the best position to advise top management, attend our round table webcasts on these topics. There has been a lot of chatter on eGroups about these topics so SLD, together with the Law Department Management and New To In-House Committees, are co-sponsoring  3 special round tables with ACC members talking about their experiences, and do’s and don’ts for each topic. See below for more details and registration links.

We have a lot more really great programs planned over the next few months so stay tuned.

I’d like to see how many people actually read the Chair’s message. So if you’re still reading, please send a quick email to sld@accglobal.com stating in the subject line where you are going on vacation this year. We’ll announce the most popular destination during our upcoming member meeting. And thanks for reading!

Want to Meet Local SLD Members?

As we all know, being an SLD member is a great resource.  But, have you ever thought it would be great to know fellow SLD members in your geographic area?  That’s the idea behind micro-networking. We are looking for volunteers to help coordinate introductory micro-networking events at the local chapter level.  These events could be a breakfast, a lunch, a happy hour, or even an outing to the local ball game.  For more information on how you can volunteer, please contact Gulam Zade, the SLD Chapter Relations Chair.
