Message from the Chair

Hello! Happy Fall.

There were numerous Quick Hits covering both national and international topics. Someone once told me that everything has to sit on something.  Every domestic and international transaction has a real estate component to it. Therefore, we also covered topics that not your normal real estate issues, but rather, topics that the real estate lawyer should have some exposure to.  For example, one of the topics concerned was “How to Minimize or Insulate Owners and Managers Against Lawsuits Based on Inadequate Security Resulting in Injury or Death at the Hands of Known and Unknown Third Parties.”  Which was presented by St. Louis attorney, William Taylor. Other topics included an overview of new TRID Regulations.

The Real Estate Committee Vice Chair, Dawn Haghighi organized a round table with  the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on September 24 and 25, 2015 in Washington, D.C.  The two day round table will include Deputy Director and the General Counsel. Thereafter there will be meetings with the Senate Financial Services Committee.  There was an overwhelming response at the GC level.  There are 35 registered for event. The meetings are sponsored by ACC, Amar Sarwal, Vice President and Chief Legal Strategist and co-chaired by and the Financial Services Committee Chair, Laura Dorman.

These are exciting times for the Real Estate Committee.  If you are interested in becoming involved please contact Rodolfo Rivera at Rodolfo.Rivera@fnf.com, or Dawn Haghighi at dhaghighi@pcvmurcor.com.
