Updates From ACC Committees

Message from Jennifer Mailander Litigation Committee Chair

Welcome to the ACC Litigation Committee’s first quarterly newsletter!  I am so excited and honored to have this chance to connect with the committee’s membership. Let me tell you a little bit about the committee.  We are over 5,000 members strong and over 1,300 of us work in law departments with 2-5 attorneys, while just over 700 of us work in departments with 6-20 attorneys and more than 500 of us work in departments with more than 50 attorneys.  Our years of experience range from 1-2 years (1,000+ members) to 6-10 years (680+ members) to 16 or more years (600+ members). While it’s is an understatement to say that we are quite a diverse group, we have much in common with our shared interests of litigation and dispute resolution and being members of ACC.

The committee’s leadership is always looking for new ways to engage our members and provide information and support to help you deal with the challenges of your daily practice.  Make sure you visit the committee page on the ACC website to view materials from past webcasts, Legal Quick Hits, InfoPAKs and more.  Additionally, I am pleased to announce the creation of two new subcommittees within the Litigation Committee.  The first is part of a joint working group effort by the committee with ACC leadership focused on law firm security and understanding your obligations as in-house counsel when working with your law firms. Evan Slavitt is the subcommittee lead for this group. The second is for in-house litigators who actually litigate or are considering bringing your litigation back in-house. JC Miller is the lead for this subcommittee.  In the coming weeks, you’ll see more information on these subcommittees and we hope that you’ll get involved. Please reach out to Evan or JC for more information.

On behalf of the Litigation Committee’s leadership team, we thank you for your involvement and interest and stress that this committee is for and about you, our members. Please contact anyone on the leadership team and let us know if you’d like to get involved. We’d love to hear from you.

Thank you.
